5 Most Common Shopping Mistakes Almost Everyone Makes

When it comes to shopping, be it online or in brick and mortar stores, there are things that people are unintentionally doing that stops them from saving a couple of bucks.

With plenty of online shopping sites sprouting up these days, we are now able to shop at cheaper prices without worrying about the costs.

Here are 5 most common shopping mistakes that almost everyone makes:

1) Not Comparing Prices

When it comes to buying items at its best prices, one would have to visit a couple of websites or stores to get the best bargain.

Personally, I like to look out for discount codes online or check out if the brick and mortar store is having a sale before making a purchase online, which I’m pretty sure is what most girls would do.

2) Buying At The Very Last Minute

When it comes to buying gifts for friends or for special occasions, one will be lying to him or herself if he or she says that they have planned it out for months in advance.

More often than not, people tend to get gifts at the very last minute and may even end up spending more than they expected.

Well, to avoid making this mistake, it would be best if you set aside a certain amount of money in advance to spend on birthday gifts or for special occasions.

3) Having The Fear Of Missing Out

I’m pretty sure all of us are guilty of actually purchasing more than we need during sales. Or perhaps when there is a special ongoing promotion with free shipping on the online shopping website.

We all tend to think that sales are short lived when in actual fact, sale items are actually available even during non-sales periods.

So before you go splurging your money on sales items, think again about what you really need to avoid overspending.

4) Not Maximizing Coupon Codes Or Shopping Rebates

Shopping online can be quite convenient. However, some websites tend to mark up their prices and charge more than the actual brick and mortar stores.

Instead of paying full price, or a higher price, there are many ways to save a couple of bucks by shopping online.

Websites like RetailMeNot and Honey do have promotional codes for discounts and free shipping. So before purchasing online, check across all these coupon websites to make sure you are not missing out on any money saving deals.

There are also websites now that provide you with cash rebates when shopping online, such as ShopBack. Who doesn’t like getting cash for shopping online? Everyone loves a good deal.

5) Buying More To Get Free Shipping

Online retailers such as ASOS and Zalora tend to have a minimum amount to spend before you are entitled to free shipping.

Sometimes, we tend to spend on unnecessary items just so we are entitled to that free shipping, which in turn makes us spend more.

What you can do to avoid this is to perhaps ask around and consolidate orders from a few friends so that you can avoid paying the shipping fees, and also, your friends get to purchase items too. It’s like killing two birds with one stone.
